Junior Red Cross
Junior Red Cross is the youth wing of Indian Red Cross Society, Assam Branch. DBI office organizes and co-ordinates the Junior Red Cross activities of 2650 volunteers in 13 schools.

The aims of Junior Red Cross (JRC) are:

  • Promotion of Health
  • Service to others
  • International Friendship

Activities:

JRC activities include health camps (First Aid, Drugs & AIDS), tree plantation programme, peace efforts, Disaster relief (flood, earthquake, violence, etc.) cleanliness drive and many others.

Highlight

One of the major activities of JRC, Assam is the presentation of the Governor’s Award by His Excellency, the Governor of Assam to deserving JRC Volunteers who have successfully completed a series of items given in the Governor’s Award Report Card.

Requirements to become JRC volunteers:

  • JRC Volunteers should be dynamic and ready for service.
  • Students of Class VII-X can be enrolled as JRC volunteers.
  • Two interested school teachers designated as counsellors are required to look after the JRC unit in the school.
  • The membership fee for a volunteer is Rs. 90/- (Seventy Five only). Members will be issued an I-card, a badge, a scarf and a woggle each on becoming JRC volunteers.
